Rezekne Meat Factory Officially Opens a Newly-Built Meat Distribution Freezer and Warehouse Facility

By investing more than 8 million euros, Rezekne Meat Factory has built a new meat distribution freezer and warehouse facility. On September 10, 2025, the official opening took place with the participation of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Latvia, Armands Krauze, as well as representatives of state institutions and partner organizations.

 

The new complex significantly strengthens the company’s capacity and capabilities, ensuring higher standards of efficiency and quality in meat processing and storage. It provides an important contribution not only to the company’s development but also to the overall economy of the Latgale region.

 

The project was implemented with the support of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Latvian Rural Development Programme, resulting in:

 

• the construction of a new freezer-warehouse with a total area of 2,856.8 m²,

• the purchase of 10 modern pieces of equipment that ensure higher production efficiency standards,

• the establishment of an industrial refrigeration supply complex that substantially improves meat storage processes,

• with the support of ALTUM the construction of a solar power plant complex, which significantly reduces dependence on traditional energy sources and promotes environmentally friendly, sustainable energy production.

 

The opening ceremony began with festive speeches delivered by the management of  Rezekne Meat Factory and the attending guests. This was followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the new production infrastructure.

 

“We continue to invest in modernization to strengthen both the company’s competitiveness and the region’s development,” said Guntis Piteronoks, Chairman of the Board of  Rezekne Meat Factory “I am proud that we are growing at such a pace, ensuring quality and sustainable solutions in meat processing.”

 

The opening was attended by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Latvia Armands Krauze, the Minister for Climate and Energy Kaspars Melnis, as well as other representatives of institutions and partner organizations that have supported the implementation of the project.
